October is in full swing. With pumpkin spice lattes, getting to wear boots again, and Halloween costume parties, October can easily be a favorite time of the year. But more importantly it is also Breast Cancer Awareness month. With Breast Cancer as the second most common form of cancer in women, it is crucial for everyone to be aware of the effects the disease has on the female population. Support of early detection, prevention, assistance to those fighting and finding a cure for this disease is being shown worldwide. While there are many ways we can help support BCA, one of my favorites is through some of the amazing companies that are giving back with each retail sale. So, I’ve made a list of some amazing brands that are making my addiction to living in athleisure wear meaningful. As if you needed another reason to buy more workout or lounging clothes, purchasing these items might just be the easiest way to help the fight against breast cancer.
How could one not love K-Deer? Their Signature Stripes put a playful twist on leggings and the material feels like a second skin. Even better, the collection gives a portion of the profit back to a selected charity. Each ‘Laura Stripe’ purchase is giving 10% e-commerce proceeds directly to The Susan G. Komen Greater New York City Chapter.
Adidas running is donating $10 for every breast cancer shoe to the National Breast Cancer Foundation – up to $100K.
An athleisure brand known for liquid leggings and making working out fashionable, Koral is donating 25% of the proceeds from their BCA line to Keep A Breast Foundation.
From jackets to beanies, The North Face’s Pink Ribbon collection supports Boarding for Breast Cancer and Breast Cancer Prevention Partners. The North Face has donated over $1.3M in funding, as well as gear and apparel donations.
Lunya has teamed up with the Fuck Cancer organization and created the ultimate power suit. 100% of the proceeds from this beyond soft Pima Alpaca, moisture wicking suit will be donated to the Fuck Cancer non-profit. The non-profit works to actively provide resources to promote early detection, prevention, and support to patients and their families.
White + Warren is donating 20% of all proceeds from their Cashmere For A Cure products to Susan G. Komen Greater NYC through October. While it might be a splurge, the 100% cashmere items will keep you cozy and warm through winter while making an impact on those fighting breast cancer.
Last but certainly not least, your favorite team apparel from the NFL Crucial Catch line. NFL Crucial Catch has been bringing awareness to Breast Cancer since 2009 raising over $18.5M for the American Cancer Society. Players, coaches, fans and refs will all support multiple types of cancer throughout the month of October. The NFL does not profit from the sales of Crucial Catch apparel rather, contributions are donated to the ACS.
